We survived the trip up North.

Waipu - lots of scottish heritage, this is where the main bulk of scottish settlers arrived from Novia Scotia apparently but found it too hot and moved down south to Dunedin (the far south of South Island) Hence a few tartan themed restaurants and scottish signs in and around Waipu - we didn't manage to get a shot of those!

Had fine weather on Saturday afternoon and evening and enjoyed an entertaining evening - pizza, champers and speed Jenga!
The rain fell this morning, sunday, so we headed to the Kauri museum instead of the beach, located about 26k away - well worth the detour. Kauri trees once covered a lot of the northland but were logged for their gum and to build houses etc, so are pretty rare these days - we showed you a piccie of the oldest kauri tree left in new zealand from our last trip up north - tane mahuta ( father of the forest)
Some photos from this trip:

The caravan type thing we stayed in - very secure and tidy but no inside loo! :(

Alanna, Andy and Steve outside the caravan

Arm swapping whilst playing Jenga seemed like a good idea at the time...

Back to work tomorrow but at least it is a short week - we head to Coromandel ( Hahei to be precise) on Friday.

Hope to update blog before Easter but if we don't then have a good one!
