The weekend again! TGIF
Definitely getting colder now and we have had loads of rain! We are still managing to make our way out occasionally in the evenings and got to our new local - "The Mount" in Mount Eden village.
Had interesting week at work - it has been very quiet work wise this month and I'm not sure which I prefer - hard work but busy or easy but boring! Steve has been on holiday for past two weeks.. So has got lots done around the flat as you can imagine.
Went out for a work social on Wednesday evening that was drinks around a house of colleague and then an Indian meal - all went well and the bill wasn’t too bad. We had Steve's colleague and his partner round for informal dinner on Sunday, which was nice - I made my special Chill con Carne...which went down very well. Chatting about England was nice and about future plans. Its really weird living abroad, because in most social scenarios you are constantly repeating why u are in NZ, what your future plans are, how u r finding NZ etc ...Its hard to get to real conversation topics sometimes and also - talking about home just aggravates any homesickness u have..
Anyhoo- we are out tonight for Andy McKay's birthday drinks to a bar in Parnell - so a good way to start the weekend. Gomez are in town apparently and of course the Red Hot Chillis, which we tried to get tickets for but failed miserably...oh well. They are last band I want to see live in my wish list, but wasn’t to be. They are only doing two dates in NZ both in Auckland's new Vector Arena...
Well I’ve had a lovely couple of weeks off – as Lei said, you can imagine all the around the home tasks, and fun activities I have got sorted – well nearly…Tried to do the weeding but the things grow very fast around here, and wasn’t entirely sure of which ones were meant to be there!
Looking forward to getting back to work, which is a bit of a shock, but shows what a nice place it is to be.
Rugby coaching starts next week – I’ve got a certificate from the NZRU!! Should be able to put a few spanners in the works for the 2011 World Cup if I start them on bad habits early enough! Will post some photos of their first game.
The cricket team I have been playing for has won our league, so a year to remember as long as I forget the England team – come on the Black Caps!!
