We haved officially moved in. The weather on moving day was of course terrible. It started with blistering heat ( 30 deg centigrade) followed by a torrential downpour. So not only had we been roasted in the morning packing the trailer but we got soaked, and I mean absolutely soaked, unpacking stuff into the new flat.
Telecom sorted out the phone line and broadband early this morning so we are back on line. New flat is nice and spacious if a bit empty of furniture. Our shipping boxes are to arrive soon so we should have more stuff then.
The sofas that we bought on the internet are fine - altho they are a bit small - we still need some extra chairs for when we have guests. Havent bumped into the teacher at steves school yet - he lives about ten flats down in the complex - but to be honest the flat is still a tip and I wouldnt want to see anybody elses fully furnished flat yet, I'd be too envious. How people afford this moving around the world lark I dont understand - I guess they plan a lot better and save - which we of course didn't do.
Speaking of money - other good news is that I got offered the job from Friday's interview - they are doing references and getting back to me - so hopefully I should be working by next week.. That should help the finances. My official title is Events Administrator - its basically working in the hospital clinical education centre, where they have conferences, lectures and talks. I will be booking people in and helping them set up their AV stuff and making sure they get tea and coffee! I hope to meet people and be able to network whilst I learn the ropes of the kiwi job market. Its part time - I start at 12.15 - perfect job for me!
Steve tried the complex pool last night - heavily rule bound but I think you are at least allowed to swim. NO drinks, loitering, tan lotion splashing etc etc...
Anyhoo - so far so good here - its all a bit weird really. The holiday is over and it feels like normal life is taking over but we are still in NZ??? Hopefully when we get some more money we can actually get out and start doing what we came over here to do - which was explore another part of the world. Again how sweet life would be if we had our friends and family around! Missing you all.
